Application: cocked caps

- Cocked caps often can't keep their "promises"
Depending on the particular situation at the user's site it can be possible - especially with PT closures - to detect caps under vacuum with a certain angles. But compared with the normal operation condition this requires a precise guiding of the packs. The more the mechanical centering succeeds and the more exactly the packs will be leaded to the Dud Detector 101S the better the results of the angle detection will be.
Application: forced rejection at broken glass

- Forced rejection
By using the so-called "external rejection" you can run the Dud Detector 101S in a way that jars will be rejected compulsorily. That mode can be useful e.g. to reject a certain number of jars after a filler-crash. This can prevent that contaminated packs will reach the next steps of the production process.
The signal to activate this mode can be generated automatically or manually and should be a simple binary one.
Application: crushed lugs detection

- Crushed lugs and ...

- ... cocked caps
"Crushed lugs" are highly problematic application faults. They often lead to cocked caps. If jars or bottles are filled without vacuum, it can be possible to detect those cocked caps. Closures with the format 66mm RTS or 38mm MTO have been checked already. There is a particular variant of the Dud Detector 101S, tuned to detect those faulty applicated caps.
