Software

A common software package is available for controlling and operating EPPE and SHERLOG systems alike. This modular software is highly flexible and can provide solutions for even very specialised measurement tasks.

The measuring systems of the EPPE product range can also be operated with basic software which is specially designed to meet the requirements of power quality measurement and is very simple to use. The EPPE basic software and the NRGCenter professional software both contain powerful tools for evaluation and analysis.

EPPE basic software

The EPPE software allows automatic evaluation and assessment of power quality to international standards. A quick overview feature keeps users abreast of the supply situation at a glance. Comprehensive graphs and tables of voltage fluctuations, harmonics, flicker and other power system parameters, such as reactive power and unbalance, can be displayed for in-depth analysis of the quality of supply. Outstanding features of the EPPE software include the following:

  1. Easy operation
  2. Flexible parameterization of the measurement task
  3. Online display of measured values
  4. Practical evaluation functions
  5. Comprehensive graphs and tables
  6. Export as CSV, COMTRADE, PQDIF or PDF file
  7. Report creation

NRGCenter professional software

The NRGCenter software contains all the tools which are needed in order to carry out and evaluate measurement tasks. The spectrum ranges from the manual operation of a single measuring device to the administration of complex groups of measuring devices with fully automatic processes for data transfer, evaluation, fault location and report management. The software features an ergonomically designed graphical user interface which is geared to meet real-world requirements.

The advantages of the NRGCenter software include the following:

  1. Common software for all EPPE and SHERLOG devices
  2. Flexible parameterization for optimum customisation to measurement tasks
  3. Automatic measurement operation with self-monitoring
  4. Easy-to-use data evaluation and report creation functions

Online access to instantaneous measurement values

All the quantities measured or calculated by the device can be called up online and displayed on a PC without affecting the data recording which is currently in progress. The measurement values can be combined within display windows, rather as they can be in a control centre system. In addition to numerical display, the system also provides a range of graphical display options including analog pointer instruments, vector diagrams, bar graphs and oscilloscope displays.

Setting parameters

The configuration module takes into account the actualities and requirements of modern power supply systems in a very practical way.
Measuring range parameters can be entered in the form of transformer ratios, while lines and bus bars can be configured using appropriate network models. The device parameters and specific configurations for individual measurement locations are saved and managed in a database.

Evaluation

The software contains a comprehensive range of powerful analysis tools for the assessment of recorded data. Values can be displayed both numerically and graphically in each evaluation mode.
Events are classified automatically according to pre-defined guidelines.

  1. Long.term and trend recordings
  2. Event recordings
  3. Power quality analysis
  4. Flicker analysis
  5. Harmonics analysis
  6. Analysis of sub-harmonics
  7. Online measurement value displays
  8. Graphical and numerical measurement value displays
  9. Event classification und assessment (UNIPEDE, ITIC, etc.)
  10. Graphical display of extreme value duration distribution
  11. Table overview of limit value violations
  12. User-defined limit value and analysis settings

The powerful fault locator can be used to locate recorded disturbances. It can quickly characterise faults to support maintenance personnel as well as calculating the fault loop and detailing the fault type, fault impedance and distance from the measurement location.

A formula editor can be used to make further mathematical calculations within fault records. The results are added to the fault record as an additional signal.

Import and export functions enable data to be exchanged between different systems using standard COMTRADE, CSV and PQDIF file formats.
